I just had a weird thought; peepers would be absolutely terrifying to hear if you had never heard them before.

staten island? I didnt know spring peepers lived there! awesome! I used to find garter snakes, redback salamanders, bullfrogs, painted turtles, chorus frogs, italian wall lizards, watersnakes, etc on staten island. in great kills. also in the greenbelt. may I ask what other frog species live on SI?

this makes me sleepy.

You know it's finally spring when you hear these guys. It's truly a welcomed sound especially after a long cold winter

Spring peepers are wonderful. They can throw their voices, too, so that predators can't find them.

Actually its frogs. The species is called Spring Peepers. They are not very big but there are so many of them. No crickets can make such a loud noise and crickets do more sing in summer when its hot. Spring peepers do sing in spring also :D
