Ive tried this, and yes it works, but how is it possible to really get the dynamics of the sidechained part pumping? This is only really subtle ( well it is for me ). for example in 'ghosts n stuff - Deadmau5' Cheers for this tho!

it sounds like the bass is reversed
would that work if the bass notes were reversed?

Hi wollyhands, assuming that your source sounds are harmonically rich (maybe add some distortion or chorus to a bass line if it's a little dull) I would then say that in the level of the channel you are affecting needs to be up and that going to the more extreme end of the settings should help you get more of a pumping feel. With the right combination of settings you should be able to get your effected channel to go from silent to distorted if that's what you are after.

too bad this method only works with some the plugins included with cubase. for third party plugins you still have to use the group+child-buss workaround.

Agreed, however it is only a matter of time before 3rd party plugins use the new VST3 architecture.

If you want a bass line or whatever to duck the kick all you have to do is duplicate your kick track and make that the trigger for the sidechain, just remember to select no bus on the send for the (duplicated) kick track (so you don't hear the output of the duplicated kick track).
