This is an outtake from the 1944 20th Century Fox movie "FOUR JILLS IN A JEEP," adapted from Carole Landis' book about the real-life journey by Landis, Raye, Mitzi Mayfair and Kay Francis to entertain U.S. troops overseas in WWII. This clip is from the video "A HOLLYWOOD CHRISTMAS," available at Amazon.com.

  • Probably for length. Martha Raye also sang another solo, "Coming In On A Wing And A Prayer" and "It's the Old Army Game" with Carole Landis and Mitzi Mayfair, both of which were also cut. I'll find them and post on YouTube soon! Maggie loved the troops and would go anywhere in the world she felt needed some entertainment and a touch of home. Thanks for your comment!

  • What a joy...Martha is an American icon if ever there was one.

  • Beautiful! Martha Raye did so much for our soldiers. May she never be forgotten.

  • Really beautiful!!!

  • September 11, 2001 God Bless :)

  • Thank you Martha Raye for all that you did for our troops and our country. Beautiful version of the greatest Christmas carol.

  • @Eltingej you are so right!!

  • So true! What this country does to older people is a crime. At least she got a FULL military burial at Arlington.

Just look at the wonderful clips found elsewhere on YOUTUBE about her.

  • I can never thank Martha Raye enough for visiting us in Vietnam in 1967 (42 years ago) with her Hello Dolly troupe. I saw her show twice. The speech she gave afterwards supporting US troops was inspirational. I will never forget her or her speech as long as I live. She didn't have to go there, but she did. God bless her!

  • y'know with a serious face Martha Raye was kinda pretty...
