Introduction to the Board Resource Center

Board Resource Center (BRC) www.brcenter.org has provided consultancy to California and national service agencies, school districts and government agencies since 1994. Our aim is to ensure people with diverse abilities are included as members of governing boards, prepared for active engagement in policy decision making and are provided a quality education. BRC assists organizations to create strategies that people with diverse abilities and providers may use to be effective in their leadership roles.

BRC specializes in developing customized digital media and print materials along with customized group training and meeting process facilitation, consulting and governance training to ensure community members are connected, engaged and productive.

BRC Director, Mark Starford, has extensive experience creating plain language adapted materials, facilitating governance and work groups, and teaching a wide range of clientele. BRC was first established as a division of The SCILS Group, a recognized educational consulting group established in 1977. The SCILS Group provides strategic intervention for service agencies, families and individuals to ensure person-centered school and community inclusion that encourages equal participation by persons with disabilities (www.scilsgroup.org).
