This is NOT a bashing video. It's a response to the comments on youtube and facebook regarding Ian McCarthy's video about the twins. This video isn't about Ian's character OR the Hodgetwins'.
READ THIS:
#1. Just like there is false or incorrect information, there is such a thing as bad advice, and bad advice can have negative consequences or in other cases prevent optimality. It doesn't matter if you dismiss it as "just advice" or not, its effects can go and do go far. Just look at the mythical "advice" that has existed in the bodybuilding culture for years that is only finally being ousted. (high reps help you get cut, must eat every 2-3 hours, casein protein before bed, you MUST eat within 45 minutes of a workout, etc.) We ALL know now that much of the old rules/advice aren't required for our bodybuilding and fitness goals. It started as "bad advice" and evolved to the "RULES OF BODYBUILDING!" which we know aren't valid anymore.

#2. Though most people prefer to listen to bodybuilding information from someone who looks the part, sound info is sound info whether it comes from a skinny person or a ripped person. Likewise, just because a person may have a ton of experience, be ripped to shreds, or stronger than Hercules, it doesn't mean that everything he says is truth or good advice. We all love to hear from those with experience, including myself, but would good advice from an experienced bodybuilder be bad advice if it came from a skinny guy? No... "GOOD" ADVICE IS UNIVERSAL!

My conclusion:
I'll admit, I wouldn't simply make my personal bodybuilding guru/godfather/sensei someone who only knew all the science of bodybuilding, nor would I follow someone who has big muscles but lacks knowledge. I'm picky as hell. I look for humility, respect, and kindness. Knowledge is a must and of course he or she has to have walked the walk (DONE what I do/want to do). Hmmmm I wonder why I picked 3DMJ.

My video was never intended to bash anyone. Those twins are funny as hell.

My issue was #1 and #2.

  • i had my button on like until the final seconds..... seriously ..

  • I rate this video... i think you have a good wide open opinion about the whole situation n obv can look at it from a funny point of view and you talk alot of sense my friend............. however........ dont be fooled.... no matter how much you try to pull that fringe down aint nothing goona hide that 5 head BBOOOYYYYY!!!..... But ya'know, you just go ahead and do WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANNA DO!!

  • STOP SAYING RETARDED!

  • youre an asian, no ones listens to asians, youre yellow

  • ian youre a faggot

  • ogus youre wrong

  • So basically I believe it is more important to get advice from someone that can prove their results, given they're giving honest information, which is up to you to believe. Science is important, but it is also a complicated field that is always changing at the more complex levels, so as long as the advice isn't ridiculous like you can gain more muscle by eating your own shit, I say take a good look at who's giving the advice, because it's easy to talk the talk, but not easy to walk the walk.

  • if anyone wants an example of what I mean by new scientific information that can discredit, or contradict past given info, look into artificial sweeteners. The accepted idea on artificial sweeteners like Aspartame, is that they have no calories, therefore they can't cause you to gain weight, but if you take a look online you'll find many arguments, by reputable scientists that will go as far as to say artificial sweeteners can cause greater fat gains than sugar.

  • You make a good point, but I'd rather take the advice of the less educated body builder with a great physique rather than advice from someone with a phd and a shitty body, because I look more at the practical aspect rather than the theoretical. Science is important, but science can't always answer everything, and when dealing with bio mechanics or any other science for that matter, there is always going to be new information that can go as far as completely discrediting the past given info

  • @bk13na agree. they seem to be more about entertaining, which is fine, but I wish they would get back to more serious discussions and not make us wait at least 30 seconds into the video to begin their topic.
