Bangalore, Oct. 25 (MRS)- In a surprise move, the Income Tax officials today conducted raids on the residences of Health Minister B. Sreeramulu, 2 BJP MLAs of Bellary district and associates of Tourism Minister and mines lord G. Janardhan Reddy.

The sleuths began the raid this morning at the residence of Sreeramulu at High Point, Chalukya Circle in Bangalore.

Teams of IT officials in Bangalore searched the rooms of the MLAs in Legislators' Home. The relatives, friends and advocates of Reddy brothers were also targeted.

Raids were conducted on the residences and offices of Kampli MLA Suresh Babu and Kudligi MLA Nagendra in Bellary and Hospet, as well as the residence of Raghavacharyalu, the advocate of Janardhan Reddy in Bangalore.

They also raided the offices of Nagendra in Vyalikaval in Bangalore. The raids come within two days of a senior BJP leader's prediction that the Central Government was planning income tax raids on prominent BJP leaders in the State.

State's Special Representative in Delhi and former Union Minister of State for Finance Dhananjay Kumar had disclosed in Mangalore on Saturday that he had information that there was a conspiracy to conduct IT raids on BJP leaders 'shortly' to humiliate the Yedd-yurappa government.

These raids are viewed as a deterrent to Operation Kamala being carried out by the ruling BJP which is poaching MLAs of both the Congress and JD(S).

The raids target the camp of 'Reddy Bros' suspected to be architects of 'Operation Kamala'.

The teams of IT sleuths this morning began simultaneous raids at 10 O' Clock at 60 places, including the residential and office premises of BJP MLAs.

It is said the IT sleuths arrived in Bellary last night and they set out to their targets in 40 vehicles.

Officials in large numbers from Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore are participating in the raids at Bellary, Hospet and Bangalore.

The raids are in progress at the Bellary and Hospet residences and offices of Kudligi MLA Nagendra and Kampli MLA Suresh Babu, who are very close to Transport Minister and mines lord Janardhan Reddy.

The sleuths raided Nehru colony residence of Nagendra in Bellary and his offices in Bangalore and Hospet. They also raided the Basavanakunte residence of MLA Suresh Babu and his office in Bangalore.

One of the teams raided the residence of Ali Khan, the Personal Assistant of Janardhan Reddy.

There was also a raid on the office-premises of a Mumbai-based construction company, who are close to Reddys.

Residences and office premises of 'Swastik' Nagaraj, Kharadapudi Mahesh, Somashekhar (Proprietor of ILC Company) and Gogga Siddharamaiah, in Bellary, all close associates of Reddy brothers, were also raided.
