Questions Cloud Ruben Salazar's Slaying

Los Angeles Times columnist and KMEX-TV news director Ruben Salazar was killed after he was struck in the head by a tear-gas missile by a sheriff's deputy during a massive riot in 1970 in East Los Angeles. Key questions about his death have never been answered. The newsman had been covering the National Chicano Moratorium Against the Vietnam war. He was taking a break from the action in the Silver Dollar Bar when the 10-inch missile was fired. The violence began after deputies, responding to reports of looting, fired tear gas into the crowd of 20,000 or more people at Laguna Park.

Great job Robert - I met u en Santa Monica thru Oscar - 40yrs later - they're still covering up the obvious. Buildings should be renamed because Sheriff Pitches and Mayor Yorty were racist murderers taking orders from the FBI.

I remember the confusion and the lack of credible answers to Salazar's death when it happened. It's with some sadness that I realize that 40 years has gone by, and the answers are still not forthcoming. I support the investigation, but suspect that, as with many things, the truth of the murder shall never be revealed properly.
