By subjugating the people of the Confederacy to accept foreign rule, he made slaves of them all, white and black, because might makes right.

In 1865, it was people of the South who were enslaved, today it is the American taxpayer who is enslaved.

Truth never dies, but it does get buried, and one must dig, dig, dig for it. Truth is rarely popular, and it ain't on TV.

i really wished that people were more educated to know that the biggest reason was taxation and supplies is why the south formed thier own gov....i suppose slavery would be a distant 3rd, but there is more to the reason why than what we are taught.

last year in 7th grade my teacher was talkin bout the civil war and he said "a lot of southerners will tell you [OVERLY EXAGGERATED SOUTHERN VOICE], "It was state rights", but it was really slavery". this man has a picture of obama on his wall. ENOUGH SAID!

As somebody whose Southern roots go back to the beginning and who has more Confederate privates for ancestors than anybody in the SCV, I find these attempts to rewrite history really sad. The real Southern "legacy" is a thin veneer of chivalry covering generations of poverty, illiteracy, malnutrition, disease and violence. There's a lot more to this song that's pretty nasty that Waylon had the good manners to omit, if anybody cares to Google "Unreconstructed Rebel".
