Excuse me, I have Thoroughbreds and yes, some do "give in" thats what being honest is about, if they feel intimidated, they are upfront about it. Curlin ran a hard honestrce in the BC however, he DID NOT grind in and give it his all. No he had no ulcers, he was scoped. No he was not hurting, he was approved pre and post race by the vet surgeon and he was not terribley tired either, he didn like the track and was just a bit soured.

I agree. He might just need some time off. They start running them when they're babies, and then they're expected to put out full steam for years without a long break. I've got 2 - rescued them from going to the slaughterhouse in Alberta. Both youngsters that were injured in training, so off to the slaughterhouse with them, but we got them first. A couple of years off - they're fine.

Horses don't "give in" or "throw in the towel". They're the most honest animals on the face of the earth. If he didn't win - there was a reason. Either he was hurting somewhere, or he was tired, or something went wrong with the ride, or he could have ulcers - you don't know. People expect far, far too much of horses, and especially Thoroughbreds.

I love this horse ^^
in most of the pics the jockey has different silks. I thought the jockey would have 1 set per horse?

Curlin was owned by a partnership of different people, therefore he ran under different silks for each owner like one time for Midnight Cry Stables, the next for Jess Jackson, ect. Then Jess Jackson bought him to own his majority so he raced under the yellow silks of JJ the remainder of his carrer.
