Good day, great Video. Do you perhaps know what torque the head bolts should be fastened?
-
This engine was in the Spitfire airplanes, and the Cromwell Mk VIII Cruiser tank.
-
I want THAT in a Mazda Miata or Toyota Supra. lol jk.

holy shit this man wants to die by carbon monoxide intoxication!!!! But it would be such a sweet death actually, what a magnificent piece of engegneering!
-
I should point out that the Meteor engine seen in this video is a ground engine for tanks adapted from the Merlin airplane engine, and that it runs on pump gas instead of aviation fuel.
-
The fuel is SUPPOSED to ignite during the ignition stroke. If it fails to do so (from a fouled plug perhaps) then you have a flooded engine. This can be dangerous for highly flammable aviation fuel, which is more volatile than pump gas. So if there's unburned fuel getting into the exhaust you have a potential fire situation.
-
@FiveCentsPlease So, what you are saying is that there is no fuel burning in the cylinder during ignition stroke, it ignites when it passes the exhaust valve?
-
Nothing until the next ignition stroke. Or the raw fuel comes out of the exhaust, which is why you usually see a guy with a fire extinguisher standing next to an aircraft when it is being started.
the neighbours must love him!
