http://www.pbs.org/carrier Airman Christian Garzone and his buddy, Philip Mager, swim with dolphins while on liberty in Bahrain. This scene did not make the final cut of CARRIER, which follows a core group of participants aboard the USS Nimitz, from the elite fighter pilots to the youngest sailors and everyone in between, as they navigate personal conflicts around their jobs, families, faith, patriotism, love and the war on terror. CARRIER premieres Sunday-Thursday, April 27-May 1, 2008, 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET on PBS (check local listings). For more information, visit http://www.pbs.org/carrier

  • Go complain to the Russian guy who was holding the whale there. What do you want me to do?

  • It could be a different type of porpoise than the bottle nosed ones we have in the US. I am not sure though. That CGarzone is so funny! I think they should have put in the part in the movie when they got to the Mosque, and he said they were going to try to make them convert........that was funny!

  • It's not a dolphin. It's a Beluga whale.

  • Whaaat? Did somebody really say "I paid 25 dollars to swim with that?" Just 25?!

  • You guys could've been eaten!

  • Although I agree that it is sad to look at that single beluga whale in that tiny space and murky water, on the other hand, I also think the whale enjoyed the visit from all you sailors. The squeal of excitement seems genuine to me. Whales and dolphins are social animals that crave contact and interaction. Although it is sad to see its living condition at the beginning, I am glad to see there is a little fun in its life.

  • What a terrible environment for this animal -- shame on you all for subsidizing his imprisonment! Hey Garzone, that creature should be "peeing and pooping" in the ocean, not that murky pool. Imagine how much it likes living in its own toilet. :( It is a Beluga whale, according to the facility's Web site. If it is in fact a Beluga whale, it is a social animal that belongs in the Arctic, not in a tank in the desert.

  • LOL! This was so cool Christian! I was lucky enough to go in and have a dolphin kiss me but I can't swim so I'd never be able to do what you did here, but it would be an incredible experience!!!

  • Yes I think you are right.

  • thats a beluga whale am i right?
