TOWER OF POWER current band members welcome alumni from past four decades in a historical reunion concert to celebrate the group's 40th Anniversary at San Francisco's landmark Fillmore where Oakland's own ToP began. Last of three videos (Rehearsals, Sound Check, Reunion Concert) featuring montages of photos by Philly Brian, Bella Funk and Frank Anzalone. (Oct. 18, 2008)

  • Thanks so much for your comments; I really appreciate that you noticed that I edited the photos to go with the rhythm and players being featured. It was a real labor of love editing thousands of photos and identifying all the alumni musicians as they played. But I was on an emotional high after returning from San Francisco back to L.A. and relived that historical night as I produced the three -video set of the rehearsals, soundcheck and reunion concert!

  • Yes, the DVD was supposed to be out in June. But I heard Emilio say in an interview that he had to go to L.A. to work on the mixes still. Mimi said it would be out by the end of the year!

  • where was Bruce Conte?only the baddest guitarist they ever HAD?

  • Bruce, along with Lenny Pickett (both in a Bay area band called Loading Zone), joined ToP in 1972 and was the killer guitarist on some 8 ToP albums during the '70s. During the '80s, he played the Vegas casino circuit and in the '90s, released 4 solo albums.

In 2006, he rejoined ToP and toured with them until the next summer. Don't know what he's been doing since then and had hoped to see him at the reunion concert.

  • i was at the show with my wife!!!! what a historical night!!! close to 3 hours of pure soul/funk.. i saw T.O.P. at my high school''waaaay back when'' . Mick Guillette went to the same high school as me( i was a freshman...he a senior) that night i had made a shirt...i gave it to Mick...(i hope he remembered) it said ''T.O.P. 40 FUNKIN YEARS....EST. 1968 OAKLAND'' timeless music from a great ''bay area band''

  • What a beautiful upload of images - to have them end & hear that freindly band ensemble effect that smears the end of KYO brought an instant smile - you hit a rhythm with edit! Scenes from the highest-scoring basketball court of all time - the old fillmore. all i ever heard in there was whiz kid mandolinist in un-laced high-tops - apprpriate, it seems now, that back at World Cup time Stanford. But that hall: Aretha - King Curtis - and Coldblood&Tower Last Days Lp with GBirch snare roll intro!

  • @714Jamming Was that really why Lenny wasn't there? I find it difficult to believe that he wouldn't make time for the band that launched him. One wonders; Lenny was never quite the same once he went solo.

  • This is one of my all time favorite T.O.P. songs! Thanks for the post!!!

  • This is what you call timeless music.40 years of timeless friendships and fans. Now its time for a new generation to hear Tower of Power music so they can hear timeless music.

  • @scperc LP was working SNL that Saturday night. Sarah Palin was on the show that night. No night off for LP!
