This is rare footage, courtesy of Afrique Profonde (www.afriqueprofonde.org) from the Republic of Congo. This is a group of Babongo Pygmies demonstrating sounds and behavior of forest animals. These people are some of the last remaining Pygmies in Central Africa, and their way of life and cultural knowledge are endangered. Afrique Profonde, a nonprofit started by Marius Billy and Justin Perkins, is working to help them preserve their cultural traditions and secure their basic human rights.
These guys remind me of some of those White people in America and Australia who are into bird-watching and can imitate the different bird calls so well... I guess it's all about what you are familiar with in your environment. Some New Yorkers imitate "Friends" real good!
