Both 27-year-old Ann Christin Hahn and 23-year-old Michaela Aurenz belong to a generation that doesn't demand special treatment as women. They don't consider building a career a question of gender.
They both have degrees in business and run companies, but they began their careers in different ways. Ann Christin Hahn started out with no capital of her own. She did tread in her father's footsteps as far as the idea behind her company was concerned, but she founded her own firm, putting laser engravings on components, equipment and giftware. In early 2008, Michaela Aurenz took over running her father's company. It makes an annual turnover of 70 million euros producing potting soil. She decided to remain with the family-owned business even though a career in an international corporation was open to her. Mabel Gundlach profiles both women. Our topic in cooperation with the Handelsblatt newspaper.
