The patient is a 3 year old girl who came to me with a history of progressively increasing deformity of the back. She was investigated with an MRI which showed a large tumor involving her lower spinal cord . These tumors are rare and can result in paralysis and loss of bladder control if not detected in time. The surgery for such conditions is very complex and cause extensive spinal damage if not done properly. This patient did very well after surgery and was discharged home with no neurological deficits.

  • Awesome! I hope my newborn daughter has just as successful a surgery as this 3 yr old did. My little girl is diagnosed with TCS and has lipomyelomeningocele. So they can't guarantee the outcome, only that it was caught early.
