Canne de Combat demo at Cultural Olympiad, held at The Corn Exchange, Cambridge, 25th July 2009 - part of celebrations of 2012 Olympics. Part 7, canne chausson
@TheDecaXD I like skylorenz videos a little better :) If you want to see what I do look at the videos on my own channel. Quite different and totally without planning or plan.
@TheDecaXD That makes more sense and is indeed correct, though I would still say kicking against someone with a weapon is a very risk strategy. No, I do not practice Canne de Combat but I have practised Japanese and Russian sword & stick fighting methods, as well as free-form systems (ie. ones that do not have an ideological background), for many years. I have not practised combat-based SPORT for a long time, CdC looks like sport to me though I know its origins are more practical.
@TheDecaXD Rubbish. Striking the kicking leg with the stick would disable the person's leg very rapidly. Kicking against someone with a weapon, except in very special circumstances, is asking for your leg to be damaged and you to lose the fight to survive.

@kage110 you are right about the fact CdC is a Sport. Give a look at this (skylorenz channel)
it's italian canne. It's more effective. (i practice it).
In canne you kick only few times, for example when you have just parried an attack :P

@kage110 ok, i've express myself badly. if you hit the leg you leave your head without defense against other stick. Is better now?
Kage, do you practise canne de combat?

@MrOttmandus because the power of a kick is much more than the resistance of the stick/arm. so it's more effective dodging and after hits.

why dont they block the kicks with the stick?

Almost every culture has some form of stick fighting, be nice to see it as an Olympic event.
