When B&W pictures are much more expressive than ever, soundrack seems to be melted in the scene in a fascinating way. My preference goes however to Bergman's and the black Pianist's (apologize for having no time to find his name out) unforgettable scene. Marvelous, isn't it ? Enjoy !

  • Humphrey Bogart nailed the heartbreak and anguish that one feels seeing an old girlfriend again entails down to a T.

  • Quite possibly the finest actor who ever lived. Thanks for sharing

  • one of the most 'real' moments of acting ever captured on film. that sort of half-wince/half sad laugh that Bogie does at 0:10 is one of my all-time favorite film moments. combined with the music, it says what 100 lines of dialogue could never say.

  • Dooley's piano playing in the film was actually performed by pianist/composer/songwriter Elliot Carpenter, who was placed where Wilson could see and imitate his hand movements. The only black talent on the Casablanca (1942) set, Wilson and Carpenter became and remained friends.
