Interesting about the mapping - on the R1150GS there is a coding plug and its possible to use a richer map ...what is the "booster plug"?

Stick with it mate. I sold my Fazer FZ1S to get a 1200 GS and I'm now loving it.
Great bike 2up as well.
Cheers

The GS is an "open range" bike IMHO. It's a cruiser, a big roadster, an offroader, a tourer, ... you decide when you hop on it. But after 20 000km on my GSA, I can honestly say that the bike handles astonishingly well for the size and weight, and with experience, that thing can transport you at speeds you wouldn't believe, fully packed or not, in great confidence and with almost no effort from the rider. It's not the absolute best for all situations, but sure shines in any of them.
Hope the BMW works out. Thinking of getting one, but finances are not good. I want something for commuting and bit of motorway riding.
I should probably pick up a honda CBR or similar, to get some practice.
Like the opinion :)

@ddazzler64 ..Thanks, if you're doing town work I agree with the CBR as a better all round bike.
