Steven Waslander is a Professor of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo. Steve works on the development of unmanned aerial and terrestrial vehicles. Steves research is leading to better ways to control these vehicles by programming them to avoid obstacles and each other using GPS, digital cameras and image analysis. Steve hopes to reduce the cost of this technology so that these robots can be used to protect the health and safety of people who work in hazardous environments. Waterloo Engineering is the home to a wide range of innovative research that is changing the world for the better. For more information, visit engineering.uwaterloo.ca/research
