What the hell Geoff?? Yeah, music is more mobile but that don't mean we only listen on the ipod. Geeze, you know better than that, you were THERE in the 70's and 80's and you were a FAN before a star. YOU KNOW the only way to listen is to CRANK IT UP & let the sound fill your world. You KNOW this, all music lovers know this. I understand trying to stay current but COME ON, it seems like these kids recording today don't have a clue how to rock & YOU & the 80's bands should LEAD, not follow.
Im sorry to say this, but while the music i listen to is basically in the "background" when i'm working, I at least have good music playing. It's not random nonsense that these guys have thrown together. I know i'm a newer, younger fan here, but It's sad that they are trying to cater more to the younger pop crowds nowadays, rather than to their loyal fanbase that has been with them since the 80's. They're sacrificing their musical integrity just to appeal to all the Beiber/Black fans out there.
This new CD is the most Porcupine Tree Queensryche record yet! I agree with Geoff view of how music is listen to today. It is mobile, iPod based and this record is a clever attempt to stay connected to younger crowds and today's music scene.
A record that is designed for headphones ? Damn I am so old fashioned. I still sit at my living room, drinking a glass of wine, and listening to music with my stereo system. I should start listening to music only with headphones or with an mp3 player while waiting for the bus to arrive ... How disappointing is this, a man like Geoff Tate making music only for headphones just because this is the new fashion ...
The interviewer should ask him "Why a new crappy aproach to your music?"

@Kokoras2000 Yeah it is very disappointing. I'm quite young, but I still prefer a stereo system to ipod type setups.
I also think this mindset Geoff has about it being "background music" is why the new albums sounds so inconsequential yet still very annoying.
