We are on a research cruise onboard the RRS Ernest Shackleton from Stanley, Falklands deep into the Weddell Sea. On our way down south we stopped at the Island of South Georgia. I worked here before and it is the best place in the world!

I spent 6 months on the island in 1992. I was a Royal Engineer(ARMY)Electrician. There were 8 RE'S and about 30 - 35 infantry. It was a unique experience. People have to pay a small fortune to visit South Georgia. So I consider myself to be extremely lucky to have stayed there for free.

I spent 7 months on South Gerogeia.. at King Edward Point.. I'd love to go back! Awesome place!
