did they put you to sleep when you had the operation ?

I don't know how I will get this done, I want to leave for basic training next year and that won't give me enough time to get this surgery done. Maybe sometime later in life, one of my dearest dreams though. -.-

How old were you when you got braces and had the surgery? Also who paid for what I can imagine a huge bill? I'm 22 entering my first year of university and I don't want braces nor an underbite (sad face). I just feel overwhelmed thinking about the cost of school and on top of that a massive $20,000+ ; I would have to pay the full bill myself because my parents are struggling financially... How did you handle this?

hey man how long would you say it takes for all the swelling to go down..
i am two months post op and still feel I might be swollen...
how long till your face looks like it will permenantely

hey man i am getting the same surgery although to be honest your jaw looks like it needed more work than mine, i watched your other videos and you truly look like a new person...
if your not to busy could u provide break downs
recovry time for eating solds again, getting active...
also how did you stay calm,, were you nervous and how did you feel when you woke up after the surgery

@boredblah1235 I know it's a long time ago you posted this, but here we go:
No. Unless there's something seriously wrong with you (you can't eat, breath or something) they would wait till your done growing :)

Had this done two days ago, just back from hospital. Although I'm quite swollen (expected that) there's has been little or no pain to speak of up until this point. Now just gotta take it easy and wait for the swelling to go down so I can see the final results. Many thanks to sicnor553 for inspiring to do this and I would recommend anyone thinking of having it done to just go for it, It really isn't all that bad!

@joebrogirl74, i had a major underbite too... more major than youd imagine, i had jaw surgery four days ago.. my upper jaw was moved forward 9 mm and my lower jaws was moved backwards 5 mm and now im wearing braces with rubber bands to help my bite to be perfect :)
jaw surgery is a hard thing to experience, so take it slowly and be careful and listen to what your doctor says. :)
and those mean people- just ignore them, they'll bite their words someday. trust me!
Holy fuck

DO you have any scars after it? Or anything permanent?

There is no scarring - it's all done inside of the mouth. Mucosa membrane (the slimy inside of your mouth) heals up with almost no scarring.

hi im currently going through the planning stage with my orthodontist for a similar underbite surgery. He told me that Id have to get braces for about a year before surgery could happen and that infact, these braces would make my underbite appear worse as they have to push the lower teeth out and push the upper teeth in...just wondering if this was true and if it is how much worse did your underbite appear? thanks!

This is true - but it is necessary. It's not that much worse. This video as done the night before my surgery... So - that's about as bad as it gets.
