This video introduction to Science's year-end special issue features Andrew Cleland of University of California at Santa Barbara, Jack Harris of Yale University, and Science's Adrian Cho on the achievement of putting a human-made object into the quantum ground state. It's the first quantum machine and the top scientific story for 2010. Produced by Robert Frederick.

  • I want to see something in addition to the talking.

A demonstration in the 'lab' and the reading etc.

(Even if it presents badly, I want to see that)

  • On the walking through walls: "If you tried to walk through that wall one billion times a second every second for the age of the universe you still wouldn't have even made a dent in the probability."

    I love it.

  • I can't wait for them to do this with a THz

    :P

  • hey why are you white people have a lot of talking?

  • I think is all about probability, if the state is in a 99% probable state then it's predictable enough...but as some people points how did they achieve that?

  • Dislike, they didn't provide one bit of explanation on how exactly they verified the resonator was in a quantum state of motion...

  • So is it wrong that the second I heard that microwaves were totally key that I thought of the Steins;Gate anime?

  • Does this mean we can finally do Schrodinger's cat in the lab?

  • And then I QM jizzed in my pants...

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!!! This is insane!!!
