AFC 3 features middleweight title bout, MMA debut of Robert Drysdale
VICTORIA (BC): After the tremendous success of AFC 2: Aftershock, Victoria-based Armageddon Fighting Championship has announced the line-up for their third event, AFC 3: Evolution, to be held at the home of the AFC, Bear Mountain Arena on Saturday, July 17th.
In the main event of the evening, two of Canada's top middleweights will face-off to become the first champion in AFC history.
UFC veteran Kalib Starnes (10-5-1) will look to build on his successful organizational debut and utilize his tremendous jiu jitsu game to stifle the striking prowess of powerful Nanaimo native Nick Hinchliffe (14-5-0). The former Victoria Rebels football player has been impressive in two appearances with the AFC, earning consecutive knockout victories over Dan Chambers and Dan MacIver.
Along with crowning the first middleweight champion in AFC history, AFC 3: Evolution will feature the MMA debut of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu phenom Robert Drysdale, the 2007 ADCC Open Weight Champion and three time world Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion. Drysdale is the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu coach of former UFC Champions Forrest Griffin and Frank Mir. He will face a stiff test in Vancouver's Bastien Huveneers (8-2-1).
The event will also feature the AFC debut of Canadian wrestling and judo champion Misha Cirkunov (1-0-0), as well as local standouts Nick Driedger (4-1-0), Derek Medler (2-0-0), Diego Wilson (5-0-0) and Adam Gabel (1-1-0)in their toughest fights to date.
