http://gundog-trainer.com - Meet Chris Bazen. By night Chris works at PNH Mining in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. By day he works (and lives) at Dale Creek Gun Dogs doing what he really loves -- working with gun dogs and being with owner and trainer Tom Waite.

Chris began his love affair with gun dogs in 2003 when he got his first yellow lab. Since that first dog, Chris has purchased five additional dogs from Tom Waite.

Chris really believes in the philosophy behind Tom Waite's methods of training -- laid back, hands off, and working with the dog and not against the dog. Tom Waite's method of working one step at a time and constantly reading the dog and what the dog is doing is the key to Tom's success in training outstanding gun dogs. In Chris' opinion, Tom Waite is able to do more with a gun dog in two weeks than most other trainers are able to do within six months.

The Dale Creek Gun Dogs facilities and hand raised birds make training a gun dog a more complete experience for the dog and the owner. Chris says that Tom Waite begins his training by working with the gun dog, without the owner, for ten to fourteen days. Dogs tend to learn bad habits from their owners. Tom Waite knows that the two weeks he spends exclusively with a gun dog can break it of any bad habits and refocus it on its main function -- working in the field. Only after Tom Waite is satisfied that the dog is focused and on task will he have the owner come to Dale Creek and work with him and the gun dog in a one-on-one setting. Chris has observed that the gun dog needs just as much training as the owner, but it's typically the owner that needs more.

  • More blah, blah, blah... for Tom Waite. Jeeze Tom! If you're going to promo your training skills can you at least have these folks show their dogs doing something?

  • @ForeverFreePress Well I appreciate you watching and following me(Tom Waite), and would like to let you know that Chris placed 1st and 2nd with his puppy in an NBHA open puppy stake, and also took 1st in the the open shooting dog stake on sun(5/8). so I would have to say the" proof is in the pudding".
