footage of a tsunami hitting Bowling Ball Beach in Mendocino County. Basically, in 10 minutes time, the tide rushes out to the lowest of lows and then back in the cover the bowling balls and reach the cliff. Amazing to watch and I'm sure the video doesn't do it justice. This is just one such tidal change. I witnessed four in a little over a half hour this morning.
Thanks for uploading this. Is a fantatastic footage!!!

Apparently people just arent' interested in nature anymore. This was video-documented footage of the effects of a tsunami; yet apparently it means nothing to some posting here unless it's ravaging a coast line, and killing thousands of people. Must be bored gamers with softening gray matter.

the difference between this and a normal tidal action, is that it went out extremely fast and remained out for several minutes, before gaining momentum and washing ashore pretty fast towards the end. Normal tidal action like this, from low to high, takes about five to six *hours* rather than a few *minutes*. Rogue waves are similar, but not as drastic a noticeable difference as in a tsunami. I've been on Pacific coast beaches for the better part of 43 years (and counting) :)

@vidguy007 The actual amount of change was 3.7 feet. that's + 2 feet, and - 2 feet from nominal. I was watching a depth sounder (from 13.0 to 16.7, that's 3.7 feet) and noted the changes. Those who say 7 foot waves might know something I don't, but I tend to not see how that could be. 4 isn't 7, no matter how you figure it.

Basically, nothing happened out of the ordinary. The water came up and then went down, within normal tidal ranges, just faster than usual.
Someday there might be extreme tides, or a storm surge, but, basically, panic is not warranted.
It was terrible in Japan, and we had problems in certain areas that seem prone to that sort of thing. But for most of us, nothing happened that was noticeable unless your went out of your way to notice.
