I have recorded this video as my contribution to the effort to change the stereotypes that have been associated with my profession over the years. It is not enough, after all, to complain about the existence of such stereotypes; alternative images must be presented.

  • A bachelor's degree in History is a perfect background for being a librarian, especially in an academic setting. But, yes, in most cases, you must get a master's degree in library / information science.

  • can someone please reply to my question.

  • I'm thinking of becoming a Librarian, I like to read a lot and absorb information. Once I read things, I like to inform people (share information) about what I read.

  • I'm thinking about majoring in History as an undergraduate, does that get me to become a librarian?

Or, do I have to get a Library Science degree after I'm done with History?

  • Bravo! -- from a dedicated and 'non-stereotypical' school librarian

  • Amen to that. The steriotypes about librarians are tiresome. I have a degree i library sciense but most people seems to belive that my four years at university was spent taking book stamping courses and going to hush training.
