  • NOne of this happened at Southhampton...it was at Portchester

  • @TheCrazyhorse36 Nobody knows for sure, this is what he claimed when he was caught, but the fact that he knew a conspiracy was afoot and did not inform the King made him guilty.

  • @medievalgirl002 Is it true that Henry Scrope took it upon himself to infiltrate the conspiracy, only to be trapped when it was discovered by another and reported to King Henry?

  • Some people think Henry's execution of these three was unjust, but I think that Shakespeare outlined the pontentiallt disastrous consequences of thier actions for the whole kingdom very well, and showed how Henry had to protect his Kingdom from this even if it meant taking a course of action that might appear ruthless.

  • I'm not far from Southampton, and have heard that the Inn/Pub in which Cambridge Scroop, and Grey were tried is still standing in the city. Does anyone have more information on this?

  • The Branagh version is my absolute favourite, but I do think his version edited this scene a little too much, so that the speeches of some of the characters did not make sense as they were out of context. There's no problem with that here though.

  • @Hessenkittel Um, this isnt the Olivier version, the man who plays Henry V here is David Gwillim I think.

  • Where 'botch and bungle up damnation' etc? Some of the best lines in Shakespeare cut? It leaves a kind of blot.

  • I liked Gwillim in parts 1&2 of Henry IV, but I liked him less as the lead here.

  • As much as I like K. B. , here Olivier shows his full superiority.
