  • How many lbs you running? 12 ish? I just had one installed on my 04 Mach 1, should get the car back this week im curious how loud an aftermarket bypass valve will sound with only 8lbs of boost.

  • Yeah, I'm running about 12-13psi. If you have a vortech mondo or procharger race valve to the atmosphere, 8 psi will be pretty loud too.

  • ok cool now what exactly do you mean run it to the atmosphere? its still not done at the shop yet so if i called the guy up and said hey this is what i want, what would i tell him to do? cause as far as i know right now everything with the kit that are installing is from procharger directly nothing aftermarket.

  • procharger makes a standard bypass valve and a race bypass valve. By running it to the atmosphere I mean the air that comes out of the bypass valve IS NOT recirculated back into the supercharger intake (aka blowing the air into the atmosphere). Closed or recirculating the bypass valve makes the air go back into the intake and it usually quieter and you dont hear the "blow off" sound as loud.

  • The reason for doing one or the other depends on the way you have your Mass Air system run. If the MAF is before the bypass valve, you have to run closed/recirculated bypass valve (hose running from the bypass valve to the intake tube). If you have the MAF after the bypass valve then you can run open/atmospherical bypass setup.

  • Reason for closed setup is because the MAF has already calculated the air going through to the engine, and if the bypass valve lets that air go out to the atmosphere it will make your car run rich because your ECU is thinking the air that the MAF calculated is still in the pipes going to the engine and will still give it that amount of fuel.

  • If the air isnt there and the ECU is still giving it enough fuel for that air it thinks it has, it could foul your plugs or stall the engine on down revs, also during half throttle acceleration could cause sputtering and crappy pick up.

Hope that is clear enough and helps you out. Good luck man!

  • no problem man the more detail that better that helps me out a lot thanks bro, i love the car by the way my dad has a 98 black cobra in my video's, they are kind of dragging their feet on getting my car done right now but hopefully by the weekend she will be done and ready to rape some chevy's.

  • Thanks man its about 470 at the wheels. The intercooler was about 280-300ish. The BOV was 300ish as well.

  • nice cobra man how many horse power? and how much you pay for the new intercooler and bov? sounds very nice.
