This patient presented with a high grade small bowel obstruction and a kinked loop of intestine stuck inside an internal hernia. An internal hernia is a tight opening within the abdominal cavity rather than through the abdominal wall and it is often caused by scar tissue. The loop of intestine was freed in time, before the damage was permanent. One area of the intestine looked to be op questionable viability (like the damage may have been all the way through the wall) so it was oversewn to reinforce the area and help prevent the development of a leak from that site.
