The buzz is everywhere.
That's the first thing that's obvious bouncing around the Internet this morning in regard to the report on steroids in baseball that will be released at 2 p.m. by former Sen. George Mitchell. Already, it has been leaked that Roger Clemens is named in the report, according to ESPN, and there is now a partial list of players supposedly implicated floating around the Internet.
Since Deadspin has posted the list, here are a look at some of the players named with ties to the Red Sox. Dear lord, don't let this be true: -- Manny Alexander -- Dante Bichette -- Wil Cordero -- Jose Canseco -- Roger Clemens -- Paxton Crawford -- Johnny Damon -- Carl Everett -- Rich Garces -- Eric Gagne -- Nomar Garciaparra -- Jeremy Giambi -- Trot Nixon -- Jose Offerman -- Julian Tavarez -- Mo Vaughn -- Jason Varitek
Some of these names have been tied conclusively to steroids before, like Manny Alexander (found in his car), Jose Canseco (uh, that book) and Paxton Crawford.
Some of the others, though? Oh man. Don't tell me that if Jason Varitek and Johnny Damon are named, in particular, it won't rock your entire baseball world. I'll be frank: As a fan, I'll be hopelessly disappointed, and a step or three more toward the wide open chasm of all cynicism, all the time.
