Caribbean graduate students from the University of the West Indies (UWI)have been particpating in the CARIBBEAN INTERNSHIP PROJECT (CIP) since 2004. Students work with development agencies in select Caribbean islands. A project of the Centre for Population Community and Social Change, (CPCSC), at the UWI, Mona, in partnership with the Caribbean Child Support Initiative, (CCSI), developed the CIP) to assist the CCSI in strengthening the care environment for young children and their families. In addition to the UWI, the Bernard van Leer Foundation and the Environmental Foundation of Jamaica have provided counterpart funding of internships over the past three years.

Goal of CIP

The overall aim of the Caribbean Internship Project has been to address the lack of matches between the resources of higher learning and the needs of parenting and child focused agencies in diverse settings in the region.
