This tiny tree cricket nymph is shown in the final stages of emerging from a hole in a stem of French broom. Watch how the antennae are initially looped in appearance (still tethered under the abdomen from their embryonic position inside their egg case) -- and then suddenly extend fully opened. Also watch how the little nymph uses his rear leg to get leverage in making that final 'pull' to leave the stem.
