  • I am glad that Americans like Linda can speak on behalf of those who feel any wrong or abuse of our system has in anyway violated rights. I also hope the citizens of Tucson realize that sometimes the enforcement of laws are stereotypical in their profile. I'm stereotyped all the time and I'm white. My brother who's skin is dark brown was thought to be Mexican while attending high school along the border. He is not, but he was treated with respect where as I faced racism. Are you legal or not?

  • @maldef Those are all conclusions. I's still really like to see someone, anyone, from the opposing side quote sections and then tell me what is wrong with the sections they disagree with.

I would hope that Arizona law would be designed to punish whoever is found to be breaking the law. That is the punitive side of law. It remains to be see whether or not it is encroaching on federal law or whether the federal government has modified its agreement with Arizona by its inaction.

  • @tomperanteau "SB 1070 attempts to create a legal regime regulating and restricting immigration and punishing those whom Arizona deems to be in violation of immigration laws. It is an impermissible encroachment into an area of exclusive federal authority and will interfere and conflict with the comprehensive federal immigration system enacted by Congress and implemented through a complex web of federal regulations and policies." • @Harpenfarker Yea, I did a search for the term "brute force" in the bill and couldn't find it anywhere. So far no one has been able to quote me the parts of the law that are bad, and why they are. I have posted this question in quite a few places and nothing has come back to me that has anything based in truth.

  • Go Jan Brewer!!!!! Go AZ!!!!

  • @ashfordking: UNFORTUNATLY, well spoken or not......she clearely has not read SB1070 which provides greater protection from discrimination than the Federal law upheld by the Supreme Court in 2006!

  • Linda Ronstadt is the best

  • The community does not trust the cops anymore. They do not protect the citizens. The illegals have more rights than an American citizen does. They are running rampant breaking our laws.... and the cops do what? Nothing. Why, because of right wing liberals like you.
