The Travellers finally arrive at the emigration depot of the port of Antwerp where they must be examined by a physician before allowed on board ship. Mottel meets two other children there: a young girl, Goldeleh, who suffers from the eye disease trachoma and has no hope of going to America without medicine and little Mendel whose family has vanished. Adapted for the stage by Thomas W. Olson and Judith Luck Sher. Directed by Jon Cranney. Music Composed and Directed by Alan Shorter. Commissioned and first presented by The Children's Theatre Company of Minneapolis, MN, 1986. Featuring Mary Leonard as Miss Zaichik, Macalester Bell as Goldeleh, John Greenwood as Mendel.
