Two cute Grey Foxes were captured on film in Templeton Pa. I think they were eating centipedes in the grass.

  • Funny from the music I know you edited this in pinnical studio. Great footage, funny our grey foxes in Cal. have a different look.

  • your right on both. the coyote out west is slightly different than the ones back east also, as I understand it, probably cousins.

  • What kind of sound do grey fox make? At night i see an animal very similar to your video behind my house, but i also her a weird sound like a duck with a cold. Just want to know is that the fox making that noise or something else. ty

  • I'm not an expert, but i have heard the foxes make a sound similar to the one you described. I have been told they are calling each other, perhaps a mating call.

  • Ahh, the grey fox. My favourite animal, simply because they are one of the most unique canines. You are so lucky to see one in person.

  • These two foxes frequented my property together in Templeton, Pa. for about a year then they must have seperated as i only see one on occassion now.Nice to see animals in the wild though.

  • a cornered fox is more dangerous than a jackal :)

  • No. This species is native to the Americas only. It's not a "true" fox. It's actually a primitive sort of wild dog that may be the most primitive of all canine species. It's found from the US/Canadian border south to Venezuela and Colombia. Its close relative is the Island Grey Fox, which is found only on the Channel Islands off California. It's not that closely related to the Vulpes vulpes fox (red fox/silver fox/cross fox).

  • That sound you referred to is not a mating call but a distress cry. Often the adults will make such a cry when their pups are threatened or when a person comes between the female and her young. Your comment about the gray fox not being a true fox is correct. Although technically classified as a canine, there is very little about this fox that reflects a canine nature. I contend that when you look at them as a whole, they are a mix between feline and canine. They are a breed unto themselves.

  • Cute video. I have a pet gray fox. They're just so adorable! :)

  • I actually have 2 one of red foxes and one of grey foxes.

  • you got 6 videos, only 1 of foxes.

  • Ok, just gotr back from the same area - asked the owners if I could walk through the woods & WHY.

You're not going to BELIEVE this, but I flushed it accidentally flushed it out of a thicket & caught a view of it - IT'S A GREY ALRIGHT!

Lol, that's 2 for 2 on my knowing where an animal is at a given time (the other 1 was a cougar back in 2003)

As soon as I get some highspeed film, I'm going back out there to get abolute proof.

  • Thanks for putting this up - Saw one saturday night on a walk, & didn't know what it was.
