circumcision began as a symbol of the battle against the carnal self, a reminder for the true 'children of abraham'. It extended to muslims since the real 'sons' are not from the flesh but in spirit.. Yes, children are not given a choice but i didn't choose my parents either. It becomes part of your identity. I don't think jews or muslims are bothered..so why should you be?

It all boils down to whether you believe children are your property or your responsibility..

If property, then the ultimate expression of this is a willingness to sacrifice your children or their body parts because you believe some imaginary Sky demon tells you to...

if responsibility, then the ultimate expression is protect them from unnecessary pain and harm--not to deliberately cause it

Rational people need to have a choice. Many rational people choose to have it done for their babies at early infancy. Some rational people choose not to. Why make it an issue? The fact that this is so important to you shows why you are against Judaism, against Jewish Law, and against people making a rational choice *for* circumcision. By not doing it early you are taking a child's heritage away from them. You are taking away their choice to be a practicing Jew.

The studies speak for themselves. The fact that there is a high HIV rate in Africa comes as no surprise. However the WHO says that there is compelling evidence that male circumcision reduces HIV infection rates. So show me why that's wrong rather than ranting and raving and posting your prejudices.
