In this 4 part series, I will demonstrate how to achieve big, bouncy easy curls using rod curlers on two strand twists.

This is a VERY easy style and it is an upgrade from my "kimmay method" Corinne inspired look. That method is great when your hair is above your shoulders, but it isn't as easy once it's grown out longer.

This style took me 1 hour to re-twist my hair in about 15 medium sized twists.

It took another 10 hours to dry and about 15 minutes to style.

Part 1 - Introduction of the style/ RE-twisting of my hair

Part 2 - Setting my two strand twists on Rod Curlers
(um, you're watching it. :-)

Part 3 - Removing the curlers and unveiling 3 looks

Part 4 - How did my curls hold up after a few days?

(Coming soon!)

Ok. Sorry I've been a RATING TYRANT with this series, literally holding my videos hostage from you all. Seriously, I was trying to buy time because part 3 wasn't done--but YES, I wanted to get more ratings in too. :-)

LOL. I put in about 60 hours total creating these videos.
It takes hours to film, hours to edit, hours to make music I can stand to listen to (lol) and an hour to render out a video to upload to Youtube. When is the last time you worked 60 hours for FREE? ;-) I work for ratings and I'm not gonna be shy about asking for them from time to time. :-D

  • Hi Kimmay. I'm a fairly new subscriber, so forgive me if I ask a question that has previously been asked, but:

Do you ever sit under a hooded dryer to dry your hair? If not, is it damaging to do so? Thanks!

  • @NaturallyBluetiful

Yes! I use my hooded dryer from time to time to deep condition my hair.

Heat helps to allow the proteins and nourishing oils to penetrate the hair, by encouraging those nutrients to bind to the hair's protein.

I personally think its fine in moderation. I don't do it more than once/twice monthly though.

Some people perfer to use body heat by placing a warm towel over there head (which is still heat, but not as direct or intense)

Flat irons etc. are INTENSELY hot!

  • Hai Luv, I almost feel bad not checking up on you...(have not been on YT to check my heroes for a long time), but good to see you and your educating vids..once more..brilliant.. a small Q though; the hair creme..was it a shea mix..? I really luv how ur hair came out.. like you Im still learning..tanx so much girl.! keep flourishing..! :)

  • @ManiSimone

Omgosh, heroes? You are too much! :o)

The Leave In recipe is in my recent Frequently Asked Questions video. No there was no shea in there.

    Hope all is well.

  • This is no joke... you've just basically proved to all black women that we no longer need curling irons. I want to send you a fruit basket or something.

  • Thank you soooooo much for this tip! I did the twist before roller setting it yesterday and it worked like a charm! I will be doing this from now on.

  • LOVE the dancing in the end lol

  • DANCING and HAPPY!!

    Ooooh Yeaaah

    Thank you Kim!

  • You are so funny. Love your vids :)

  • When ever I do a twist out I've noticed the sides of my hair curls perfect but when I twist out the crown and back of my hair it looks as though I've never twisted it, even when I twist and set on rods, it just reverts back into an afro with little twists on the ends. What can I do? By the way I love the kimmaytube conditioner it really makes my hair soft and shiny. Now I need a recipe for curly :-)

  • You are so funny! I love your videos! I am transitioning my hair at this time. I started about 3.5 months ago. Thanks for all the ideas!

  • Can you do this style on transitioning hair?

  • After what, eight months of trying to do this and failing? I realized it's because I always try this late at night, go to bed with wet hair and don't let it completely dry. Wow. Excited to try this after that wake-up call!

  • How many rods did you use I want to do the same but my hair is shorter so I'm pretty sure I'll need like twice as many.
