  • I can't find the information anywhere, what is the purpose of the ink ribbon setting designated by the white dot that does not use ink at all?

  • @Giblinono The white dot was used for typing memeograph stencils. No ribbon ink was used. Look up memeograph on Wikipedia to learn about this technology.

  • Awsome! I have a question, ok, I also have a 1899 typewriter with an £ (English pound, currency sign) sign on it and these other signs ₩, ¥, €, $, ¢, and all the letters and a -, ?, ", #, }, what would it be worth, and it is a Remington brand.

  • @Titanic19127 It's worth exactly what somebody is willing to pay for it, no more, no less. Put it on E-bay to find out.

  • Kinds like these can be priced $100- $450, very nice!

  • @Titanic19127 I sold this one on E-Bay for $537 but it had the special character set. A normal one would sell in the range you mention.

  • I really wish I could find a typewriter like that. It is my biggest dream to find a Royal Model 10 in such pristine condition.

I enjoy writing short stories, and writing them on as typewriter as gorgeous as that, would just be too good to be true.

  • repackage the "in action" segment without the music. Hearing the keys hit the paper is educational for those who have never seen a typewriter. this is an EXCELLENT resource

  • It's a piece of art <3

Sometimes I wish these things would come with a handy usb-slot for my notebook.

  • Would pay money for an hour long video of somebody typing on this, would just put it on repeat. The typewriter is beautiful. New owner is one lucky human being.

  • @iammrhappy12 Minnie The Moocher, and something by the Dave Brubeck Quartet I think.

  • Awesome machine!

I just got a near mint 1950 ROYAL and it is a blast to use.

  • I wish manual typewriters weren't dying out so much.. They're amazing things to work with, I can imagine.

  • What song is this?

  • @RonTheRectum It won't run out quick. The machine will slowly scroll the ribbon as you type. On most typewriters you could probably type around half a dozen full sheets of paper to run the ribbon from one end to the other. Most machines will automatically reverse the ribbon when it reaches the end. You can run the ribbon back and forth a good many times before the type starts to fade.

  • Excellent video. I love to have one of those myself but not with a math keyboard. To complicated. But a royal 10 is welcome in my collection. Yours is like new. Very well done. You're a good typer too.

  • Superb and good typing skill ! My interest in typewriters only developed recently, can't say why specifically but I did realise that a once prolific and everyday device has suddenly disappeared ! Then I had an opportunity to have a close look at an old one in a junk shop, very well used but still working. I was fascinated by the precision mechanism and operating efficiency. So, I now have an Olivetti Lexikon 80 which is a superb design and very well made. Just need to learn typing now !

  • My Favorite Things while hands glide over the keyboard...too cute. It's something Andy Rooney would do.
