A better setting for a closer Rick sound is both pickups same volume, neck pickup tone on 7, bridge pickup tone on 1. This is spot on for me. Save your money and get a T40!

hey what do you think of the neck humbucker pickup in the 4001? is it an humbucker?

I loved the sound of my rick the biggest problem I had with it, was no comfortable place to anchor my thumb at all. I use the fingering style to pluck the strings. after a fews hours of playing it got very sore. I use a peavey T-45 because the pickup is in the same location as a rickenbacker 4001 and the T-40 is not. For the cost and being made in the U.S.A. I would buy Peavey.

@germatrix hey man thats awesome, mine already sounds much more like a Rickenbacker just from changing the tone nobs and not using the phase switch. I have one last question to clarify though, when you said your T40 is in "humbucker mode" does that mean you have your Pickup Selector switch upward (for rhythm/neck pickup), downward (for lead/bridge pickup) or do you leave it in the center so it activates both pickups?
Hey man I actually own a Peavey T-40 except mine doesn't quite sound like a Ric. I'm using pretty generic strings for mine, they are Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Bass strings.... I am wondering how you get yours to sound so identical to a Ric! Please you would do me a huge favor and save me $900 on getting an Ibanez copy of the Ric 4001 (which isn't even as good sounding as the original from what I gather, I just don't have the money to shell out for a Ric right now or anytime soon). Thanks man!

@TheEldorado1991 bass settings are on the description, in adittion to that try to hit hard the strings without touching the pickups

When finger picking on the rick, where did you find it most comfortable to put your thumb. I find the pickguard to be too thin

@FerniFF i always rest my thumb on the pickguard, it took some time to get used to it, but is the way i feel more comfortable
