  • Wow thank you very much for the information I can see that I need to deepen my experience on the subject. What other films of this style would you recommend as your quick and informative reply leads me to believe that you were extremely well versed on the subject.

  • @deathskilledreaper Coming this fall is Rogosin's COME BACK, AFRICA which is even better. And definitely THE EXILES which the director considered a documentary and KILLER OF SHEEP which the director considered fiction, but they're very similar in nature. Also, THE BICYCLE THIEVES which is the father of all the 1950s and 60s films of this nature.

  • Awesome film 1 of the few that deserves its place in the archives of congress it's a great story but I don't understand 1 thing if he scripted it how is it a documentary

  • @deathskilledreaper Thanks for the kind words. Documentaries come in many forms. Before cinema verité took hold in the 1960s, the tradition of Robert Flaherty held forth where a director would live with his subject(s) for many months and compose a storyline around what he observed. Although Rogosin and his cohorts came up with a brief storyline based on Ray and Gorman's experience, most of it was filmed off-the-cuff. The Exiles is a similar example as is Killer of Sheep.

  • Thank you sir I shall check those out

  • INTERESTING

  • "Go out there and get a job. Make my last stand out there. If I don't make it this time, I'm givin up..."

  • Saw it last night at the Film Forum in NYC - not a great story in dramatic terms but the real life footage was compelling as were the filmed interviews with the filmmaker and associates involved in the production. Definitely worth seeing.

  • This trailer is beautiful.

  • Loved it. Go see it.
