For some reason, the version of this someone else had uploaded and I had bookmarked on YT was changed to private, so I decided to upload this video myself.

Rachele Gilmore, who was Kathleen Kim's cover for Olympia, makes her Met debut with four hours notice when Ms. Kim falls ill, and proceeds to bring the house down.

  • @NEBESHIKU This from someone who favorited a video called "Wonder Woman vs. Furies". Really, Nebeshiku, really?

  • @stokleyb I don't think it's her account. As for why the old link is now set to private, my guess is the Met made a DMCA claim, as they did against this video when I uploaded it, but I fought it and won (citing sections 1, 3, and 4 of the Fair Use guidelines). Most people don't challenge DMCA claims and just let Youtube take down the video / make it private.

Kind of foolish of the Met imo - It's clear to me that having this video on YT increases, rather than decreases, interest in Ms. Gilmore?

  • Thank you so much for re-downloading this. Rachele has made most of her videos private. I lost about 6. So I start again downloading what I think is a marvelous coloratura. I love her voice. Her F# (or G) just amazes me. I don't understand why she would "private" her videos.

  • @stokleyb it's not the highest note recorded by a human voice but IS the highest note ever sung in the MET! that's sensational in and of itself!

  • Sensationelle!

  • @operageek65 I think I read somewhere this is the highest note recorded by a human voice. Fabulous indeed.

  • @stokleyb She originally sang this role for Indianapolis Opera, where my dad heard her audition. It's an Ab. Fa-bu-lous.

  • But what jus happened~?! where did this Doll come from?! :D BRAVA~!

  • If I was at this performance, I would have given her a standing ovation so long the cleaning crew would have to kick me out.

  • I guess I wouldn't be the only one to think she sings better than Kathleen Kim.

  • She's good. Check out Petya Ivanova singing this aria while dancing en pointe.

  • this was flawless for someone so young. brava.
