Is Islam a religion of peace? Daniel Pipes, a leading Islamic scholar, says yes and no. If Islam prevails, becoming the worlds pervasive religion, the answer is yes; and since it will require war for Islam to prevail, for the time being the answer is no. But to begin to understand Islam, Pipes says it should be viewed in its several forms: traditional, radical, and modern, the last of which is only in the act of becoming.

Daniel Pipes is the director of the Middle East Forum, a Philadelphia-based think tank. Currently the Taube/Diller distinguished fellow at the Hoover Institution, he earned a doctorate in early Islamic history from Harvard in 1978. He is the author of 12 books, including Militant Islam Reaches America and Miniatures: Views of Islamic and Middle Eastern Politics. He writes a weekly column for the Jerusalem Post.

Pipes admits he is NOT a theologian when it comes to Islam at 4:06 , yet the publisher of this video states in his comment description to the video that Pipes is an Islamic scholar. How ironic!

I agree with some views that muslims in my community are as a whole not as open to interactions. For example in a coffee shop or at a restaurant. they seem to want to be to themselves which is in itself not necessarily bad but to the degree that I can't ever recall seeing any muslim outwardly interact with someone then that's odd. The times I can say this for sure is when I can tell because of the dress. I understand resentment to media but I believe some of it is intent to not associate.
