A video I made with some friends.

Susan (singer\songwriter) and her band used to play in this little place we had. Anyway, I fell in love with the song and for some reason just had to make a video for it but had zero equipment or experience.

I think we made it for about for $75.00 on a $25 pawn-shop camera and a toy Fischer-Price camera. I edited the whole thing on a PC way before they were capable.

The Cast were all friends with little to no acting experience. I just showed up with a camera, told them what the scene was about and they all just went for it!

It was truly amazing. And most all of the scenes were first takes. Sometimes in below freezing weather.

If you could've been there to hear Parie and Collin. They would just start improvising these arguments out of nowhere! I almost felt bad about being there. Like I was eavesdropping on a family dispute.

And then the pool room fight .... I did feel bad. We all did. There was this weird vibe after, like a fight had really happened.

I think these guys missed their calling.

The only near accident, besides some scrapped knees, was when I left my truck in neutral and it started rolling away with the camera plugged into the cig lighter. We caught it, had a good laugh and kept shooting. With the parking break on.

The most expensive element was the "flashing" cop light. The rest of the money went for pizza and beer. The cool thing was, when we shot the "arrest" scene, a Cop pulled up on us, we told him we were making a video, so we ended up getting to use his car with him putting the cuffs on Collin. See, ya never know. He turned out to be cool as hell.

None of us ever thought about entering it into a festival. But the local TV station did a piece on it.

The most memorable quote was from Mike of the Groobees. Mike told the reporter:
"Well, it's nothing you'll ever see on MTV. But it's OK."

I guess Mike was right.

So why did we all go to all the trouble? Blame it on Susan's song. For me, from the second I heard it, it was just one of those songs, ya know? I still love it.

Please search for more info on all the musicians that helped with this project.

And if you ever need flowers, Parie, who played the Mom has a cool little place in Amarillo called "The Secret Garden."
