i have a suggestion for general electric ... if can make electric rotootillers to tiill the ggrounds for gardens

Do not rush installing charging units !! I think we can build an electric car that charges itself while you drive. There is a patent.
-
BTW This is Portland, not northeast usa. A lot of our electricity comes from hydropower, from all of our dams - and much of it is sold to seattle and california!!

Yes, but coal plants pollute less than gasoline, and for decades the oil industry has held this government hostage, fighting every step of the way to put down roadblocks to the electric car.

Electric cars are far more efficient with energy than gasoline engine cars, so even if the electricity comes from coal-fired plants the net gain offsets any gripes about the source of the electricity.
Its unfortunate there are so many luddites out there. Did you know horse drawn carriages are STILL more efficient than automobiles....so why aren't we still using them? Maybe every republican anti-technology activist should sell their gasoline car and buy a horse carriage, mkay?

What a load of CRAP!
Thanks for all your comments. In response to electric vehicles charging up on coal-powered electricity, we wanted to clarify that all of of our public charging stations are powered by PGE Clean Wind power. As individuals we serve begin to adopt electric vehicles and install charging stations at their homes, we anticipate the bulk of charging time will be taking place at night, when we're off-peak and much of our base-load generation is coming from wind power.

Is it free to charge at a public charging station? How much per kWh?

@sfomail For the quick charge station, it's in the World Trade Center garage, so you'd have to pay the standard parking fee, but currently the charge is free and will work with the LEAF and iMiEV when they come out. All the other stations in our service territory are currently free.
