1. I'm not sure why I used this song, as I don't even really like it that much. I guess it's kind of summer-ific ... in an annoying way. [shrug]
2. The other rider in this video (on the chestnut) is my friend Amy. We both had dressage lessons on Friday the 13th.
3. Horse trials coming up in just 2 weeks! =D
4. The title (albeit a tad bit premature for us here in the Deep South) comes from one of my favorite books of all time, "Charlotte's Web" by E.B. White.
"The crickets sang in the grasses. They sang the song of summer's ending, a sad, monotonous song. 'Summer is over and gone,' they sang. 'Over and gone, over and gone. Summer is dying, dying.'
"The crickets felt that it was their duty to warn everybody that summertime cannot last forever. Even on the most beautiful days of the whole year -- the days when summer is changing into fall -- the crickets spread the rumor of sadness and change ....
"'Summer is over and gone,' repeated the crickets. 'How many nights till frost?' sang the crickets. 'Good-bye, summer, good-bye, good-bye!'"

Haha! I'm pretty sure Heart (the chestnut) is 17.2hh, but he might be 17.3hh. He's running Novice at Tryon, too, so you can appreciate his gargantuan stature in person. He's such a good boy, though. :)
