@UP58 Thanks for that clarification! I wasn't sure who originally recorded it, and other than my grandparents' version above, I had only heard a Scruggs rendition.
It's not "a Doc Watson song." He is only one of many who have recorded it. As much as deeply admire and respect Doc (and just donated a brick for his new statue in Boone), he shouldn't really get that credit. The Carter Family may have been the first to record it as is, but it has a long and convoluted history.
