  • I love the works of Archibald Motley (19th century) and Charles White (Harlem Renaisssance) . They both mastered the art of black, white, gray shades relative to light,, congruent with the works of Rembrant. In retrospect, as black struggling artists , unable to afford expensive colors of oil paint, they used what they had, black pencils and charcoal to create masterspieces.

    I love Charles Bibbs. I must have his recent work on president Obama. A masterpiece.
