Should you do stretching before workouts or after? Does it lower risk of workout injury? Or let you put out a better performance? In this video we are going to look at static and dynamic stretching, why warm-up sets before a workout are better than stretching and what place stretching has in the world of working out and bodybuilding.

As mentioned in the video, here are some links with more background information:

  • Very good info again!

My favourite warm up(strength training) is cardiovascular warm up

after foam rolling followed by joint warm up and dynamic warm up.

Sounds a lot but it takes 5-7minutes and I feel years younger!! :-)

  • @fliesenfuzzi But I still will be able to legally buy beer, won't I? ;)

  • Wieder mal wunderbar!

  • great video..i always thought stretching b4 a workout was necessary, thanks for the info Evilcyber!!

  • @MrBeatlerpage Glad you found it helpful, man! :)

  • I get so happy when I see your new vids in my subscription box

  • @Leudast1 I'd say go for stretches post-workout, but make sure you stop before it hurts. Over time your flexibility should increase.

  • How about stretching before cardio workout?

  • @Evilcyber Thanks for replying! :)

  • @AIversonI In general, yes. However, I'd say it is preferrable to specifically warm up the muscles you are going to use with the movements going to be done.

  • Great topic Evil. I know it's bad to stretch a cold muscle, but I thought that's why you did a cardio warm up b4 you started your weights routine..... so as to get the blood flow running through your body?

  • Thanks Evil! I was wondering about this recently, so I'm fortunate that you posted this. Anyways, if you have time for a question, what would be the best way of increasing your overall flexibility? I've made some great strength gains, but I've noticed that I'm quite unflexible, I can't even touch my toes w/o bending my knees. Any suggestions? And increasing overall flexibility wont hurt my strength will it?
