@DickAllen, it's not just their "black" versions of "white" songs -- the stuff they did to greats like Sam Cooke and the Temptations can bring tears to my eyes (in a good way).

reminds me of my child hood days around the way. guys would stand on the corner with a 5th of Richards or Thunderbird and try and hope they could rock it like that.

Jery Lawson and the Pursuasions were geniuses in their own right. They have a unique ability to take a "white" song and make a "black" version of it while always respecting the original.

Joe wrote so many great hits for the Tams that I'm sure he loved this version.

this cover must have totally blown the mind of the composer/singer Joe South. In his most extreme imagination would have ever envisioned his song done this way.

I have loved the Persuasions since the early 70s. When I found these videos today, I was transported to my youth and happy days. THANK YOU for posting.
